Brighten up your Sundays with our astounding "Dinner for a Tenner" plus a some very live entetainment with the internationally famous Jimmy Rainbow bringing you the very best in music from sixties to the naughties. Reservations are not required although to avoid disappointment you might want to give a wee call just in case. Sundays from 5pm.

"... this is now an example of a professionally run, modern style bar. They feature cocktails but carry a growing range of malts and a good wine list, although drinks on draught are limited to some decent lagers and keg beers. The range of bottled beers is, however, very extensive. Also, their policy of serving even the best of wine by the glass is to be commended...."

The decor is modern-cool and it is fair to say this is a sit-down not a stand-up kind of bar. They feature a range of food till nine in the evening, which incldes tapas and mezze. With a mixed, if generally younger clientele (the slightly more mature client such as local leather entrepreneurs are tolerated), the Newsroom operates a strict door policy particularly at the weekends but prides itself on being both female-friendly and welcoming"

 

 

"We had a girls night out at The Newsroom on Leith Street before going to see Sex and the City. In the relaxed but classy seating area at the back we perused the newspaper style menu over a glass of wine. To start we had a selection of breads, dips and cold meats. The bread was fresh, the smoked salmon and parma ham to die for, with dips of humus and beetroot puree, along with artichokes and olives. This was all so good we were not sure if we had room for our mains. After a break we did. I had cornfed chicken with black pudding and chirizo in a creamy paprika sauce which was delicious. My companions were not disappointed either. Two had ordered from the tapas menu while another ordered a succulent steak with hand cut chips, which was first class."
